A HEART'S LAMENT for Solo Native American-Style Flute

A HEART’S LAMENT for Solo Native American-Style Flute

A simple, folk-influenced piece for Native American-Style Flute (minor pentatonic scale). Duration approximately 1’40”.

The flute part is notated in Nakai notation (i.e. F-sharp minor with sharpened 6th + fingering diagrams), so it can be played on 6-hole minor pentatonic flutes in any key. There are chord symbols marked on the flute part in F-sharp minor and also scale degree (roman numerals), so an improvised accompaniment can be added (i.e. guitar, harp, piano etc.).

N.B. The demo recording on the “Native American-Style Flute” page features a harp accompaniment and is recorded on an I AM SOUND F-sharp (432Hz) plastic flute from Sound Therapy Shop UK (soundtherapyshop.co.uk). Alternative fingerings may need to be used depending on the maker of your flute.
